As several Shinigami and their Zanpakutō Spirits float behind Sode no Shirayuki, 6th Division Lieutenant Renji Abarai appears and apologizes for taking so long to arrive. As Rukia Kuchiki says Renji's name, Yasutora Sado notes they brought some backup.
As Orihime Inoue wonders if they are the manifested Zanpakutō Spirits whom they have been hearing about, Uryū Ishida wonders what is going on and points out how they were told the Zanpakutō Spirits were rebelling against their masters. When Rukia tells her to explain, Sode no Shirayuki agrees to do so.
